We took a nice little break over MEA week at the Cabin. We got to spend a little time with the Aronsons but for the most part it wast just our family. Dean loves the cabin and Benny is starting to be easier there too. Also the leaves and trees were still BEAUTIFUL!
Shortly after we got back, it was Halloween. Per our new traditions, we went trick-or-treating no less than four times. Thanks to grocery stores the YMCA an actual trick-or-treating night. That’s a good thing, because Halloween was a cold night, we didn’t make it out for very long, and Dean is ready to go by the time it got dark. Which was fine, because I had class that night anyways. But they still had a fun time. And it was fun to see Benny dressed up like Dean was two years ago. Lisa also did her annual Fire prevention week and the kids got to ride a fire truck. Only bummer was I couldn't be there like last year, even though I was home! Benny had gotten so sick, with a fever of 106/107 at the Urgent Care so I had to take a few days off with him.
Continuing our fall of travel and fun, I took a little bit of time off to go to North Carolina. Hadn’t gotten to meet my new niece yet Elise, so Benny and I flew out there. Mark and Dean had a nice weekend to themselves, though Dean did tell me numerous times how he was supposed to go, and he said he should have gone. Benny and I though got to play with the kids, enjoy warm weather, go pecan picking, find toads, see Grammy and Jimpa and eat good food.
Next holiday up, Thanksgiving . we got to spend this holiday with the Aronson side. We decided to go up to the cabin, and overall it was a really nice time. We had hayrides, enjoy the sunny weather, and all the cousins got to play. The biggest bummer, was that I was pretty sick the whole time. I got up occasionally to spend time with everyone, but really just wanted to lay in bed the entire time. It was still a wonderful time, and once again good food was enjoyed.
Now we are just starting to enjoy the Christmas holidays, lights, snow, presents and treats! Dean LOVES decorations, turns on the lights he can, and makes me turn on any lights he's not allowed to. He loves the "book fairy" who brings him a new Christmas book every single morning of December, and takes it to daycare every day. At school they make an ornament a day and he loves adding it to the tree (Only Benny is terrified of the tree!). Dean loved seeing santa at the Eagan YMCA and will be excited to see him as the season continues.
Overall the boys are becoming more and more of friends. It's so fun to see how our family grows and changes as they change. All of a sudden we are out of the infant/baby stage: no more breastfeeding, keeping everything away from mouths, cutting up food into tiny bites, bringing a diaper bag every where. They are both little toddlers!
Dean is hilarious. He's having less tantrums lately which is nice. They still occur, but it is easier to rationalize with him or ignore him. He's also learning that the more he uses his words the more we respond positively to him. When he's really upset he usually says "I need a break. Or Don't talk at me!". Yesterday at target he said "i'm in a cranky mood!" He loves his brother IMMENSELY and is so patient with him. More pics of our every day life!
Benny is sweet and funny too. 15 months old. He loves to "push us over" and wrestle with his brother. he always wants to be carried and be "up" he will throw his arms up to you. He's saying mama, dada, uh oh and starting to point to things. He makes all kinds of sounds but they are complete jibberish right now. He still gets into everything and needs to be watched all the time, but is able to play independently and use toys appropriately. We can't wait until he likes TV :) Then mommy and daddy have another ace up our sleeves! He won't let me wear him anymore so if I have to get something done with him it's almost impossible. He's so sweet though and we love him to pieces!
